London City Mission – Charlotte Mayhew
London City Mission has an opportunity to serve God by seeking to extend the kingdom into the least reached parts of this city, i.e. those who are least likely to be reached by local church evangelism. Charlotte works in Streathem with the large Somali community.
Options Pregnancy Resource Centre
Options Wimbledon Pregnancy Resource Centre is a Christian charity founded in 2006. Our own experience of God’s love and mercy gives us compassion for others in need of support when facing overwhelming circumstances and loss through pregnancy. We welcome people of all faiths and of none.
At Options we recognise the value of each individual and do not discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
All our advisors are trained in crisis pregnancy advice and post-abortion/miscarriage support. They receive on-going supervision, training and development.
Options Wimbledon is not an abortion provider and does not make referrals to any abortion provider. However, Options Wimbledon Pregnancy Resource Centre is committed to showing care and compassion for women who chose to terminate a pregnancy. We offer both 1 to 1 and group support for women who struggle with difficult feelings after an abortion.
Ian Gilmour, Holy Redeemer, Streathem
The Holy Redeemer was founded in 1927 by the Church of England to serve Streatham Vale, and is in the Borough of Lambeth, South London.
We are a very diverse church with about 90 in our fellowship, of which around 20 are under the age of 18. We have two services every Sunday and run a variety of activities during the week, including Little Nippers toddler group, children’s groups and teenage youth groups for the local community.
We believe that we can know God by hearing his words in the Bible. So Bible teaching is an important part of our services as well as singing, praying and friendship.
Our aim is to make the good news about Jesus known and to live for him. We try to be a place that cares for people and has space for those asking questions of the Christian faith. Everyone is most welcome.
David Middleton – Holy Trinity, Sheffield
Holy Cross is a conservative evangelical church serving 4 very deprived housing estates in Gleadless Valley – south Sheffield. We are a church of all ages and stages of life and with people from many backgrounds and nations. By God’s grace we are seeing people brought to saving faith in Christ and then growing in Him.
St Luke’s are particularly supporting the creation of a new role in the church – part-time international worker. Holy Trinity is increasingly drawing in people from all over the world. Their new recruit, Pierre, will help the church to reach those from all nations.
Gaines Christian Youth Centre/Camp XL
Gaines exists with the purpose of reaching and discipling young people for the Gospel and equipping others to reach still more. This is done in two main ways. Firstly through through hosting weekend and summer camps throughout the year for church youth groups. They come and stay with us, where bible teaching, accomodation and activities are all provided.
Gaines is now at the stage where familiar relationships have been created between visiting groups and the team, which is a huge blessing and encouragement to us as we work and serve here. Secondly through the intake each year of a small Gap Team. These are normally teenagers who have finished their A Levels and come to us for a year out before heading to uni. They attend a bible training course in Birmingham throughout the year, which equips them to handle the bible and to lead bible study groups during our camps, and are actively involved in the running and maintenance of the manor house itself (from painting walls to chopping down trees on our 11 acres of grounds!) Gaines is a huge old manor house in the countryside where constant renovation projects and support are needed!
