1908-2008 Centenary Year
Every Sunday (as well as at various times during the week) folk from naught to ninety and from all walks of life have met at St. Luke's. When most people think of 'church' they think of a building. Church actually refers to the people who meet in the building. That is why our centenary celebrates the first time people got together on the site rather than the completition of the building itself.

Longing for Paradise?
Our Vicar, Simon Vibert, has been appointed Vice Principal of Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, and Director of the School of Preaching.

Wycliffe is an evangelical training school and a permanent Hall of Oxford University
(see http://www.wycliffe.ox.ac.uk/)

The dominant theme is how to be The Authentic Church.

Early Summer The 10.30 Service
Acts:  Resuming our series in this book we see how Jesus continues
the work. He began while on earth by establishing and then
authenticating the church and its message.

1 Corinthians:

Paul explains how the gospel, which the church has been
founded on, must shape the life-style of any church that is
           founded
then and now.

Early Summer The 6.30pm Service
Malachi:

Continuing in Malachi’s 2,500year old prophecy we are
brought face to face with the character of God and the
characteristics He expects His authentic people to show

Psalms:

Songs for the soul.  Life for God’s people will sometimes be
hard and challenging.  These four Psalms remind us that we
find all we need for life in this world and the next in the Lord Jesus.

1 Peter:

We conclude the series we began in the Autumn with the
final 2½ chapters that highlight the amazing, and sometimes
challenging, calling we have as God’s people and His church.

There are lessons for our individual lives as well as our corporate
            life together.

Late Summer
Both the 10.30am service & 6.30pm services will focus on
encounters between Jesus and the people of His day. These
were challenging to those He met and help us know how to
           relate to Him ourselves.
